Human Healing
Horses don't lie. They come to us with honesty. As a prey animal, their senses are heightened and they pick up on our moods, our energy, and respond accordingly. Horses mirror ourselves back to us. We cannot hide our true selves from the horse; they see through us. When in a session with a client, the root cause of what the horse is experiencing or displaying, is often a reflection of what the human is going through. For instance, one client didn't know why her horse would only go so far in the show ring and then fall apart before they could get to the next level. As I worked on him while we talked, his resistance to relaxing meant he wouldn't bring his head down. The client and I talked while I worked and it came out that her expectations of perfectionism had put too much pressure on her horse so he could only perform at a certain level. Her need to be perfect was confusing her horse as she made mistakes in the ring due to her own inability to relax. She was in her mind, not in her heart, where she would have felt her way through the classes. Her horse had stopped liking his job and she admitted her perfectionism was affecting her whole life. When she stated she would stop trying to be perfect, her gelding immediately let out a huge sigh and dropped his head which shocked my client. It was the beginning of a new relationship between her and her horse.
Each session is different according to the needs of the horse. A session for a horse may or may not bring up personal issues for the human. There is no judgement. Sessions are for the purpose of empowering both horse and human.
It is the goal to have a therapy herd to expand on reaching the general public.
